Independent Age

12 Week Phone Friendship Service for Older People:

About

During the lockdown & shielding period, Independent Age are introducing an interim telephone befriending match, for up to 12 weeks during Covid-19. Whatever happens as we get older, we all want to remain independent and live life on our own terms. That’s why, as well as offering regular friendly contact and a strong campaigning voice, Independent Age can provide you and your family with clear, free and impartial advice on the issues that matter: care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility. A charity founded over 150 years ago, we’re independent so you can be.

What do I need to know?

This service will potentially be with someone in the locality of the older person, which will then lead to match them face to face, when restrictions are eased. Or this could continue as a telephone match if that’s preferable or unable to happen by locality. This service is for people: - Aged 60 or above - Has no hearing or memory issues - And that they identify as being lonely/isolated. Please contact Gavin (Wellbeing Officer) directly if you would like to refer into this new service.
